Wednesday Miscellanea.

I got my new passport today – pretty depressing staring at all those crisp, blank pages. And I got the optional 48 page passport, so there’s twice as much of the crisp and boring. I miss my old one already, it’s been added to the pile.
In the middle of digging out from under the pile of logistics that it takes to travel to asia for two months, lead a workshop, write a book, deal with clients, and train for the 5 day trek. So if things here seem sparse on days like today it’s simply because my brain has imploded.
Got an email, along with 60 others, from Vincent Laforet, announcing his new foray into the blogging world. His article last month, The Cloud is Falling, generated alot of conversation so Laforet has gone one better and is now publishing at VincentLaforet.Wordpress.com.
I don’t recall whether I posted about this previously or not. I know Chase Jarvis did. Check out the Digital Capture Van HERE. If this doesn’t make you drool then nothing – NOTHING! – will. It is an unadulterated geekfest of gearlust and I think I am in love.
The Worldwide PhotoWalk is 17 days away. Vancouver’s walk is full and while I myself can’t lead another one that day due to commitments you might still be able to squeak in under the wire if you wanted to lead one yourself. I believe the cut off is this Friday. For those that HAVE signed up – looking forward to seeing you there!
If you’re an aspiring travel photographer, or a photographer who just loves to travel, be sure to check out The Travel Photographers Network. It’s a tight-knit group of exceptionally nice folks who share a similar passion. Drop by, take them for a spin.
Finally, if you are a working Canon shooter, even part time, you may be able to get in on Canon’s CPS membership. Rules and benefits are different in each country but here in Canada it gives me discounts on pro-level gear, access to rental gear, and speedier repair service. While I can’t vouch for the speedier service, I can tell you I’ve saved a good deal of cash when buying L-series glass, and Speedlight strobes. I bought a new 85/1.2L lens this morning and my CPS pricing was about $300 cheaper than retail, and the membership is FREE.
Thanks for the shout out!
