Back In KTM

I just got back from a nice hike grueling death march up to Nagarkot. On the way up I was shooting for my favourite client. Once there I was whining about the pain really enjoying the fact that I was no longer hiking up a mountain with 40 lbs of gear on my back. But once I dropped my pack, after 7 hours, at the Hotel at the End of the Universe (not a commentary but its actual name) I had a wonderful time. Being settled high on a mountain in rural Nepal with (a) 360 degrees of gorgeous views and (b) a Gin and Tonic, made it all worthwhile.

This one’s for RC, taken high above Kathmandu. I’m no landscape shooter, and I slept in way longer than any decent landscape photographer would have (long past the peak of sunrise, I was up and out at 6am), but the terracing and the incredible greens…it’s gorgeous here. And I woke up to this:

This is my birthday present for RC since he’ll have to wait a year to get here. (It’s a way overdue Happy Birthday, but it’s the thought that counts, right?)

Tomorrow is Monday and I’m out the door for the airport at 5am. I’m off to the south, to Biritnagar and will be gone, sans laptop or internet, until at least Tuesday night, if not Wednesday evening.

So did I miss something? What peak is this? Everest?

Your text was really interesting when I first read this post in bloglines, because it doesn’t recognize the strike-thru words, they just appear as normal. Funny :)

Your terraced shot is beautiful. I’d love to see it large some day.

wow. some parts of our planet are truly stunning. landscape photography is probably my personal favorite, though I really love all types. that purple mountain scene is just breathtaking, did you do anything to enhance the colors? because they are stunning.

I really enjoyed the strike throughs.

Well, let me be the second to offer to carry your gear for you (now that I’m back on my feet again). Beautiful photos; the second one reminds me of our early morning flight to Ladakh, watching the sunrise over the Himalaya…
