Dude, Where’s My (Smart) Car?
December 22nd, 2008Vancouver is under many, many, inches of snow. Other cities can deal with it, but we get a couple inches of snow and (1) our snowfall removal budget is blown in 5 minutes, and (2) people freak out and either park their cars (smart) or go driving (stupid). We’ve had 3-days straight of snow and cars are getting tough to find in the drifts.

If we get a couple of inches of snow here we wonder why it isn’t snowing!
I’m glad it isn’t snowing here. I hate snow. Hooray for global warming /
We’re getting more and more rain here in the Netherlands every year though…
Just too funny. Nice play…
I love the snow! However, it is a challenge for Vancouver. The snow here is very wet. It’s not like interior snow like Alberta or Sask. Their snow is very dry and dusty almost like little itty bitty fish scales. West coast snow is quite wet so it sticks to everything and is difficult to brush off. Also, as David said, we have a much smaller snow budget compared to Toronto. We have 27 snow removal trucks compared to their 400.
On the bright side, today we have had a clear blue sky all day. Combine that with the fresh snow from last night! It is a gorgeous day today. It looks like we may have the first white Christmas in 10 years. There is also people skating OUTSIDE! We have not had that opportunity since I was a kid when a good freezing for a few weeks a year was the norm.
Hehehe… You don’t even have to shovel!
We’re having snow in eastern Washington and I’m loving, but then I don’t have to go to work for two weeks so it can snow all it wants!
