Henri, Me, Matt Brandon, the last time we were in Bangkok

The last couple days have been a whirlwind. It got so nutty over here with emails and phone calls, and all while I was meant to be in a writing retreat, that my head is spinning. If someone had told me that releasing a book was this much fun I’d have done it years ago. If they’d also told me how much work it all is, well, I’d have second thoughts. But the fun? There should be laws against this!

I worry this blog will suffer and I’ll do everything I can to prevent that, but it’s inevitable that it’ll happen once in a while. So I’m asking for mercy now. It’s also inevitable that I mention the book from time to time – either the first one out of the gate, or the one I am burning the midnight oil on now – so I ask for your patience in advance as well.

I spent Monday and Tuesday on the Sunshine Coast here in BC, locked away in a little cabin with a friend as we wrote our little brains out in 2-hour increments. If there’s one thing that’ll keep you grounded when everyone is singing your praises it’s starting to write again and churning out pages and pages of junk. But I didn’t get a thing written for the blog. Now I’m leaving for Eastern Canada to spend a few days with my family. So, the thinness continues. At least on the blog. The chubbiness continues elsewhere.

So I’m sending you to see Chase Jarvis instead. He just wrote a post I wish I had written HERE.

Speaking of travel, just booked flights to Bangkok for a piece of August – two weeks shooting up north around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Going with my usual partner-in-crime Henri who is easily among the most easy going travel partners a guy can have. And it looks like I might squeek in a trip to Ethiopia in June as well. I thought I was busy, but it’s about to go’ up to 11, folks.

Thanks again to all of you who have sent emails, tweets, comments, etc. Your support and enthusiasm for Within The Frame is truly humbling and reminds me again of what a special community this photography world can be. I’m truly indebted to you.

Finally, I have closed the comments on the WTF! Giveaway early. Just didn’t seem fair to keep y’all waiting to find out if you had a book coming or not.
