I looked at the eVest and I’m sure you’ll look great in it but on us old farts with a few extra pounds around the middle they don’t hang quite the same way.

As for international travel, I knew I was in trouble years ago going from Singapore to Taipei to HK to Beijing and back to KL when I couldn’t figure out whether I was in the queue for the mens room or to pay the exit tax. (Do they still have this?)

I look forward to seeing your vest design. Fleece works.

Jeff – Never had a problem with stuff in pockets. Take the vest off, put it all in (except laptop). Of course the regs differ from place to place and the inconsistency of it all drives me mad. Some want shoes off, some don’t. Some want laptops out, some say it’s ok. Jeepers. Set an industry standard and follow it, people. C’mon, I learned about standards in Gr. 4, surely this isn’t hard…

As for vests looking corny – you should see the one I designed. It’s pretty dang nice.

Yes David, I’m sure you and Mr. MattGyver will look stunning in your 47 pocket vests. (kidding, really!)

I tried this method once on a trip from HK to Beijing. Just keep in mind that anything that goes into those pockets will have to come out, be placed in a tray and be run through the x-ray machine, hopefully to be returned intact. And sometimes you forget just what you’ve stuffed into all those pockets and it can be embarrassing interesting to see the reactions when you start to unload them.

I don’t have a good answer to this global issue with the airlines but the 50 pocket coat (or vest) isn’t my first choice.

Have you checked to see what you can actually fit into the eVest? I’d be curious to know how much it’ll reasonably carry since it wasn’t specifically designed for photo equipment. It certainly does look better than pure photo vests.
