Well put! I agree! There is a photographer in my hometown who went to school for it, has been doing it for 10+ years but has no vision, no passion. He ridicules all of the new talent and “lifestyle” photographers. How sad that he feels that just because he has been doing it for so long that he can rob someone of their dream. Plus a “professional” that ridicules others is not a professional. Then there are people like me who have been doing it for a year but I’m filled with passion and do have vision. I create specific shoots to meet the want of each client. I work in a professional manner, have specific contracts and policies, constantly reading up and researching new ideas and techniques, show up dressed professsionally (just because you own a D3 doesn’t mean you should show up at your shoot with the word “Juicy” on your butt). Have I been doing this for 10 years? No. Do I consider myself a photographer? Yes. Do I consider myself a professional photographer? Yes. Do I think that everyone that calls themself a “professional” is? No.
