February 2010 Wallpaper

January 28th, 2010

Here’s the February 2010 wallpaper in both 2560×1600 and 1280×853, shot on the Maasai Mara this past January. I ran this through NiK Software’s fantastic Silver Efex and added a texture, which is a little out of the usual for me, but 2010 is the year for me to play and try new things. Sometimes they’ll work, other times not so much.

Be back from Senegal on Feb 13.

Beautiful image. Thank you. I have NiK Silver Efex – I will also remember to play with it this year.

I do like the filter effect. It gives it an old film type of feel. Lovely photo with the layers of clouds as a background texture contrasting against the trees.

Thank you for making my desktop a pleasure to look at!

Thanks for the image. It is beautiful. I like having a calendar in the lower left corner. Very convenient.

I really, REALLY like Silver Efex Pro but can’t afford it, so I wrote my own B&W conversion plugin. Here is a link to my Black&White Aperture plugin project hosted at GitHub. http://github.com/baldmountain/BlackAndWhite It’s free, open source, works on Leopard and Snow Leopard and isn’t totally lame. Download and install the .pkg file. Let me know how it works for you if you give it a try.

This image is awesome David. It is the image that has now replaced the stock windows background that has been on my work computer for a year or so.

    Beautiful image. Thanks very much.

This is fantastic. Is there any chance you can upload a 16:9 version? I’ve got a 27″ iMac running at 2560×1440, and seeing this optimized for it would be truly great. :)

Thank you for sharing your photos from Kenya! I especially love the elephant eye, the bird on the giraffe, and the table setting inside the tent. You are a very gifted photographer!
